Crash and burn….
Life goes on (Thanks Garrett!)
I didn’t have it in me yesterday to begin this blog. What a day…October 33rd. Today I am no longer seeing debris from the mushroom cloud nor do I feel the sting of my anger regarding the harsh words from folks who have no idea what exactly goes into what you guys do each week, how hard you work, the collaboration that happens with such a diverse group or how truly amazing you are. (Yup, I ended in a preposition, after yesterday…it is a small thing.)
If you see Mr. Ammons, tell him how cool he is, he worked in the control room after hours yesterday to make sure that we don’t have anymore technical difficulties regarding audio. We no longer have to switch between the DV device and the DVD player (I blame the MRSA video).
As a reflective practitioner…I know, right…you love it when I say that!
Here are my thoughts and thus my POA - Plan o’Action:
- Find and clearly define the fine line between creative freedom and other important stuff (like deadlines, etc)
- A deadline is a deadline and there will be no show on Friday if there is no show on Wednesday. CAPICE? (ka-peesh, it’s Italian, remember my maiden name?) CAPICE - Demanded agreement) Would this have saved some embarrassment were there only the technical difficulties note rather than a very small piece of an 11 minute show with no audio? I’m thinking…. yes.
- Determine the procedure for the equity in editing to be a non-issue, see THE SCHEDULE ( yeah, I went there – back to the elementary pocket chart thingy – sorta)
- Create the “this is how we do it” map for saving and backing up ALL imported items so that we don’t have cool features that are MIA (ie: rolling down the hill)
- We discovered this week that there is an I in We, two of them. (Thanks Josh, aka Jacob XD) But there isn’t an I in RamTV. Our team will produce a show that everyone participated in the post production of…(another preposition…that’s odd) Reference – THE SCHEDULE
- An appropriate address for the drinkers of haterade…I am really leaning toward “I like pie” or the awagg smile of confusion. =) The important thing is that we all remember that ugliness spewed in their direction is only going to add fuel to the fire, and this doesn’t help the situation. It makes us scapegoats and this is not GoatTV.
Recap:
1 – Room A 211 closes daily at 3:30 The Studio Shutdown
(please add Mack’s fun voice here, it was very useful to me yesterday at lunch time)
2 - RamTV Show 5 completed by Wednesday
3 – There will be (from this day forward) no day-of or day-before editing.
4 – If there is no show on Wednesday, there will be no show Friday (Kapish?)
5 - See schedule of editors for shows (yes, I went there)
If all else fails, smile like awagg, use Mack’s funny voice and say something random involving pie. Jon will apologize for it later.
Tell me how you feel:
What will next week hold for us?
What are your thoughts on the new class procedures (closing time, you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here, THE SCHEDULE)
Will the next show (Show 5) be ready on Wednesday?
What were your thoughts regarding two of next semester’s staff members “owning” the pain with us?
Final thoughts:
In the words of a Jedi Master “Impressed was I, very impressed”. You guys impressed me on Friday during the staff meeting…you didn’t dwell, you listened and you moved on. Proud am I! What do you think, can we call our meetings, Staff Meetings or do you prefer C.T.J. Mtgs still?
I am a lucky girl that is why the ‘juice’ doesn’t sting so bad.
Awesome job, nice tidy title, amazing folks around me….what more could a girl want?!
