After completing your second show, what have you learned as a result of the process?
Regarding critiques, what is the most beneficial thing about student and staff critiques? Least beneficial? and what can be done to assist us in this area?
What remains an area of concern regarding:
-Live daily jobs
-the April upcoming show
-culminating student products
Anything else?

It takes a lot to put a show together, as editor this month I learned that. There are constantly troubleshooting issues and you have to learn to work through them.
Critiques are everyones personal opinion and everyone has the right to that opinion. I think most all of the people who critiqued have no idea what i takes to make a show so it was irritating how everyone got so worked up. It's stupid to get so mad about what people who are essentially ignorant to broadcasting have to say. The people who gave us constructive criticism was very helpful and we'll take that and make corrections in our next show.
I don't really have any worries yet, I probably will the week we come back from break. I refuse to worry until after break.
Most important thing that I learned is that deadlines are not as far away as they seem shawwtyy!!
You gotta make a plan and commit to it, you really can't have room for holding stuff back unless you have included that in your plan shawwty...
To my peers not in ramtv: I feel like if you have nothing nice to say then you just need to circle your numbers and be out. I guess students feel like they are helping but what they dont realize is that we are students too! This is a class and we are still learning! Cut us some slack because Im sure if their is an OBVI problem then someone is going to say something about it and we probably know too. Also another thing is (not trying to sound SNARKY) but we did not make the show just for YOU, so of course there is going to be some stuff in their that you do and dont like, I mean you dont like every show that comes on television OBVI.
The only concern I have is about the April show, of course the same problem as always, I just don't want us to have to me stressing trying to do EVERYthing at the last minute, other than that I feel like we are all GUCCIFIED!
Oh yeah and thanks to those for constructive criticism!
Honestly, I almost feel like I've done nothing for those two shows. I've learned, however, that planning early and getting things done in a timely manner can really relieve that last minute stress that put our first show in so much jeopardy.
Good critiques are RARE. We need to stop wasting so much paper on people that are all too willing to talk crap about a class that they have no idea how it is run. Revamping the layout of the sheet would help but we need to limit the sheets per classes (i.e. give sheets to those who are going to give an honest critique).
CULMINATING STUDENT PRODUCTS: I don't know if I was realistic in my timeline that I handed in. I REALLY want to do this product. I have a deadline. I need help (please).
Luis - See me and we will make a plan regarding "help" for the product.
Bry - thanks for your feedback, what can we do (with the critique sheet) that would be helpful to the students completing them?
After our second show I feel as if we need to plan better just like before and have a plan written down and have everyone film an individual project and then import it so therefore it will take a load off the editor. The students had a few good critiques but nothing to beneficial because they all have their opinions but untill they actually take a walk in our shoes they can't judge. The teachers really helped us realize what we do is good. We can re write the critic sheets so maybe people can understand better.
The april upcoming show is the only really concern we have because we have our daily jobs and our student products are coming along very well.
O - lets make a plan to re-vamp critique sheets! Who's down?!
i believe it takes a team effort to get the show done. we learned this after the class meeting. when we recieved criticism from the students i believe it upset a few people but i honestly think that we should take some of it into consideration. the stuff WE no we messed up on but not the stuff they say WE need to do. they dont no what goes into making a show and how much stress it puts on the editor of it. i think we shouldnt worry about it, TO a certain extent. im not saying to just blow stuff off and forget about it. if mr dedmon and mrs redmon walk in an say its a good show i think that we did a good job overall.
i learned that it rolls a lot smoother if everyone does their filming AHEAD of time; i didn't feel as rushed on the second show. btw awesome job editing, M! ;)
well, if you think ignorance and obnoxiousness can be considered beneficial critiques, then cool beans for you (not meant as a snarky comment lol). Oh well. It's not the first time we've got stupid comments, and it definitely won't be the last. Im just gonna leave those alone, and work on improving wherever we need to improve.
no concerns just yet...
:)
I realized after not being the editor this month, how much easier the show seems. However, knowing how much pressure was on me last time, I tried to do whatever I could so that Magena would have a less stressful experience. As far as the critiques go, I completely agree with Magena's 2nd paragraph. She literally took all the words out of my mouth. Maybe the critique sheet needs revamping, maybe it doesn't. As long as people use them, that's okay with me. I don't have really any concerns for live other than the whole teleprompter blowing up. So I am going to stop typing this here so I can help L with troubleshooting camera's and the teleprompter
For the second show i learned that our class works very well as a team and we all seem to be becoming closer as a class.
As far as critisism from our peers go, i think that they should have their opinions on the show so we can learn and make it better next time, but i don't think they should be able to just bash our whole show just because they didnt't like it or think it was perfect, because they haven't even done it before.
We need to begin making a plan for our next show and just getting things together because that seemed to work better for our 2nd show. So overall i think it was a good job for everyone!
This week was the week our show was aired, yet I dont like to include myself when I say "our" cause I dont feel like I have done anything really to help out. For the next show I would really like to get more into filming. I'm a little tired of just doing what everyone tells me to do cause I can't find my own niche if I continue to do what others tell me to do. Another thing, something that happened later this week has made me loose a tremendous amount of respect for a certain person. I feel like after this comment was made that I can't tolerate working with this person any longer, but for the sake of the class Ill atempt to be professional.
After completing the second show I realized that it is really important to plan everything out and make sure you always have a backup on each show.
The critiques are beneficial because some people actually have criticism that will actually help us improve the show, for example when D said that the transitions between each segment were choppy. That was something that I didn’t notices when we previewed the show but when I watched it with my class I saw that that was a problem that really need to be fixed in the next show. The critiques are least beneficial when people leave comments stating the obvious, like when people wrote that the tape was skipping. Other than that I think the critiques can be a good thing.
The only concern that I have for live Daily is the problem with the TelePrompTer, but we seemed to overcome that challenge yesterday. And the only concern with the upcoming April show is planning and getting all the footage.
The culminating student products are going fine I will probably be finished today.
For one thing, we need to get everything together the first time around
Not make a line up, and stick it on the wall and then forget about it, and have to throw a show together during the last 2 weeks or so.
Even though it was pretty awesome.
On the critiques, I can probably be less sensitive to them and not get mad about the ignorant people who have no idea what they're talking about.
Especially that person who thought we needed a whole story with an antagonist and protagonist etc...
As far as live goes, I want to stay on sound, as usual
We need to plan our April show, and find someone who will edit it
Keith did the first one, and Magena did the second
Magena is doing way to much...I really feel like shes been director the entire time since we started doing live dailies.
I can get started on my student product as soon as our world class computers for world class students stop screwing up.
Plog - see me if we need an intervention.
