Woooow. Looking back on the beginning weeks of RamTV compared to the first/past 3 years of my high school career is a little unnerving. In hindsight I didn't know anything about any of these other guys before this month or so. I thought I might have had at least a vague outline of kids' personalities, but nope. Nothing. Personally I think the whole manual labor thing was more like a social experiment than anything else "Graphics Communications" did not by any stretch of the imagination prepare me for this class, hahaha. In the near near future I predict fleeting and entangling alliances among film students, not to be a pessimist because it's also lookin like a fun colorful buncha days to me. I'm stoked:).
So, the first few weeks of RAM Tv were kinda eh. That's the only way I can describe it. Painting was, of course, a rough start. But I liked getting to know everybody. I hope this semester works out, I really do. And so far I think everybody works together really well(if they're working... Hahah.) But we'll see what happens. And I'm not very good in front of the camera, so I'm super worried about that. Hopefully this class is awesome and we create some great shows.
I can't wait to get started actually making the show, since it seems that every other day some random kid is asking me when the first RamTV show or play is happening and what it is, which is slightly irritating, but nonetheless I guess this is a similar thing that happens to celebrities, but I digress... I haven't really learned much about anyone in the class really, since I tend to be pretty good at reading people's personalities and such, but perhaps more of that will come with time... I do enjoy the filming that I have done, and I foresee a fluctuating love-hate relationship between me and dolly...
First week of school was pretty chill. I think our class wont be as stressful as your other classes. I think that we're all pretty chill. But like you said, we haven't really WORKED together yet. But overall, I think it will be a fun, enjoyable semester.
The first couple of weeks of Ram TV were kinda boring since we had to paint the studio. Now that we are actually are getting into the the actual class and filming it seems its gonna be fun.
The first few weeks where kind of different, it was not what I expected out of the class. But then again it was a rough start and we had to paint the room, but since then its been somewhat exiting. I think our first show will be a great one. The only thing im worried about is the, "You know everyone, but you dont really know them until you work with them". After painting I relized what she meant by that. But other then that the class itself if fun and im looking forward to it this year.
Very insightful Krystin! A fab reflection of the past days, I too was surprised to find that our Shop experience gave me tons of valuable insight about the future of our class and your peers as well. ;) Thank you for your enthusiasm and borrowed work ethic.
Brie, I am sorry that you were less than enthused about the first few weeks of class, unfortunately sometimes you have to do what you gotta do to make it work. Thanks for your hard work regardless of your feelings. =) Working…that’s a concept. It may be a rocky road to start with - for some.
No worries about being in front of the camera. Do you remember the first time you ________. (drove, etc.) You are always scared, intimidated and a little worried, and then with practice it becomes second nature. Believe it or not, this too will become second nature.
Seth, hopefully your frustration will subside now that you can give those random students a date to look forward to. Yes, you were not in the mix during painting so I suppose this was a bit of a faux pas in asking you to reflect on that. Perhaps you may illuminate on this at some point later.
Thank you for your enthusiasm regarding your willingness to film as well as take on extra credit opportunities.
Jozif, I’m glad you now see what I meant…trust me it will become clearer and clearer as the weeks pass. Although painting wasn’t my cup of tea, it proved to be a worthwhile venture.
Jozif, decent first blog, dig a little deeper next time.
I decided not to have any pre-thoughts to the semester. Going into it without an opinion was the way I chose to take. Also, since I didn't expect anything, it added an air of mystery to the class. A bit like a shadow would!
The first week of school was pretty weird, not like a normal first week of school over the last 11 years. Usually during the first week of school you don't learn how to paint....but all is well and ok, I had fun with it. My guess is that must of been the cheapest method of painting a room, I mean think about it. A group of teenage seniors with no experience in professional painting, painting a studio, with no pay.....hmmmm sounds odd to me. But I guess we all sneak in some illegal child labor here and there. So in my opinion the first week of school was just a unique one.
