Weekly Reflection - November 18th, 2010
Please share your opinion regarding how the live daily broadcast is going. If in fact, you feel it is going poorly please give at least one specific suggestion for improvement in the area you mentioned. If you feel it is going well, please give a suggestion for further improvement.

I feel that the daily broadcast are getting better. They started off horribly, with getting started and everything, but once we get going, I think it goes pretty smoothly. I do think, however, we need to start as soon as the announcements get done. But other than that, I don't think that we're doing half bad.
I do not believe Ram Daily is going very well because people just don't seem to do it, and when some people get together to do it, others seem to wander off. I think that specified jobs (either self-picked or assigned) and a complete "drop what you're doing reguardless of what it is" procedure is in order to solve the Daily problems.
The Live Daily is sort of terrible. The fact that everyone is always doing something else is probably the problem. Someone will say "Lets do live" and only three people show up. 20 minutes later, someone else says the same thing and so on and so on. The only thing I can think of to solve this was what someone (I don't remember who) said last week, that we need to set a time. But then, we tried that and it barely worked. We really need to do it right when we get into the studio, well, after the announcements are finished...
I think the ram daily is going HORRIBLY between people not cooperating and having technical difficulties it has just not been very good experience. I think the biggest way to improve is by EVERYONE pitching in and getting it done first thing in the morning. We should also pick what job we want for the week and keep it. I think that will help cut back on a lot of the time wasted.
The live broadcast could be going a lot better in my opinon, probably because nobody really cares to share what job they want so there's not the right kind of communication, like we'll get all ready to go and I'll be standing behind the camera and realize there's no director to say when to start filming and it's frustrating because then there's a holdup when somebody has to say, "Um who wants to be director?" and someone else has to say "Weeeeellll I'm not really doin' anythiiiing I guess I'll do it..." then you have to wait for that person to be like "Oh, are we starting?" when really it should have already been finished.
I also think 10:45 is a silly time to try and begin Daily because it's the middle of the period so if you're doing other work for ramtv (hopefully you are, probably you're not..) you have to drop everything and scramble to get Daily organized and hopefully (if everyone gets their stuff together and Daily even gets finished) hopefully you remember what you were doing before and have time to pick it back up (if you haven't been tagged with the job of editor or weather or something that takes up time after Daily is finished.)
In my opinion since we started the new way of doing the live announcements its still a somewhat rough change and we are not completely use to the new change. But before the change it took much longer to get it done, but not with the timed schegule it is much easier to get it done but we still need to work on getting preped for it sooner.
The daily broadcast seems to be getting better. What seems to be the problem is getting everyone together at a certain time to complete it. It just seems that we put it off until the ed of class and never get it done. We have somewhat fixed this by setting a specific time to complete this. It seems to be getting better so we just need to keep up the work.
The Daily shows are getting better but we still need to improve on time. The thing that usssualy takes the most time is getting announcements on the telepromter and if we could get someone to start on them at the beggining of class or before class then we would be able to finish a lot earlier. Other then the amount of time we finish the show in we are doing great.
I think that live is going "aite" It could definetly happen a lot faster, but other than that it doesnt really have any major flaws in my opinion. Yes, there still is the same people who just sit there and dont do anything and we all know who they are...but still the majority is working and working well. If we could get those "do-nothings" to actually do something i think live would go a whole lot better and faster.
