Weekly Reflection - February 8th, 2011

Now that you have begun to solidify the line up for your first show, what are your thoughts about the planning process prior to the first of many "TMZ" style meetings about the show. What challenges did you think that we face as a group?

Now that you have had a couple of days to "chew on" the line up as well as several meetings to view and make changes to the show.... What now, concerning the aspects of pre-production (planning) are your concerns? Are they similar to or different than your first thoughts.

My apologies for the wordiness of this blog...please see me for further confusion. :p

Kudos for a great day in my absence Tuesday, I heard good stuff from both Ms. Dumont and Mrs. Redmond! XD Brownie points all around for getting Live Ram Daily done so efficiently!

I feel as a group that time is gonna be a big weakness. I am not doubting our group at all but things just seem to be coming along slow. I don't know if it's just me or what. I think that we will be able to get our work done and do a good job it will just be last minute. I hope I am wrong.....

I somewhat agree with Jalen.. I think that several people in our group are "last minute do-ers." Which will be challenging when it's time to air our first show. However, last Friday everyone seemed to be doing fine with going out and getting what they could get done for the show. My thoughts haven't changed from the beginning about how our first show would be like. There isn't a lot going on in school the first few months of the semester which makes things really difficult. I do have a kudos for the hard work we have all put in for our live daily recordings. We shall see how Live live daily goes!

Aight, this ram tv isn't gonna b what i expected it to be. We have a lot to do, and have lil time to do it. I just noticed not too long ago that we have worried much about recording and neglected the thought of editing! My thoughts have changed in fact. Fun thoughts have turned to work thoughts. Time to do work! Peace gangstas!

RamTV has been so much fun so far, more fun than I've ever had in a class. Micah and I are working hard on the basketball footage, and we had a blast getting up close and filming the games. I don't know so much about the deadlines for the entire show though. We have a lot of footage to bring together and I don't know if we're going to get it all done on time.

The main challenge that our group is going to face is meeting our deadline for our first show. We have footage and all, but I know it takes a long time to edit. Our time is pretty limited and I think our group is going to struggle with getting everything done on time because some things are done outside of school and we all have different availability times. I don't really have any other concerns than meeting deadlines. My thoughts on RAM TV class vary on what we do and what has changed and what we don't have done because of some difficulties.

We're off to rocky start, but I think if we focus we can pull it together. I'm still enjoying this class, even if the deadline is coming up quick. I don't think it's too much to get stressed over though, if we stress it just messes everything up. I'm sure things will pick up as the semester goes along.

I do agree with Maddie and Jalen our group does do things at the last minute, but I think if we set our minds to it we can change that. I'm the type of person who likes to be early for meetings, and most of the time I get things done a day or two before they are due. It does bother me to see how a lot of people are not taking it seriously, students dont even take Ram TV seriously because we dont. I know its suppose to be fun to produce a show like this, and it is! Always will be but there are times we need to buckle down and work hard, you dont see movie producers goofing off or taking breaks every 10 min. Thats why their work is good, and people love it. I hope this doesnt offend anyone or put anyone down because I dont want it to...its just my thoughts :)

I think the challenges we will face is getting the motive to actually get up and get things done by the deadline. i dont think that coming up with new things or ideas for the show will be much of a problem but maybe towards the end of the semester may be a challenge. pre-production concerns will have to be making sure everything is done and ready to be exported to be shown because like you (Ms. L) has said we have only been successfully DUNN with 1 show out of all the times of trying. They are kind of different from my first thoughts about how the pre-production was going to go. But overall i think we will get the show dunn in time even though it may take a lot of stress outs to happen in the mean time.

I would like to start off by saying that I am SINCERELY sorry for this being a day late.

But anyway, I think I've started to notice how stressful this is really going to be. I've noticed people getting annoyed with each other, but not trying to be annoyed. I think our first show is just going to lack material, but I think as more things at school start happening, our shows will get better. Challenges in pre-production is just going to be the getting-up-and-doing-it part. We have all these great ideas, but little time to do it. I don't know. I think we can pull it together. We're very capable.

@Jalen - I think you are dead on it.

@Maddie - I too agree with you about Live, now if we can just carry it out.

@Micah – ding ding ding! We have a winner! “I just noticed not too long ago that we have worried much about recording and neglected the thought of editing!”

For the most part our group does pretty well when it comes to brainstorming, we have a lot of creative ideas it just a factor of when and where in the show to use them. The only problems I see with the group as of right now is that even though we’re supposed to be working as a team, we end up forming little cliches with the people we’re more familiar with, which is a problem even for me. The reason I find this as a problem is because people may slack off as well as, later during major group decision or conflict tend to take side of our friends. Lastly, one of our major problems is time management, but hopefully after this first show we’ll have better understanding of the work flow. As for my thoughts on the first show, I think that it will be a little weak, but hey it’s our first show it’s not gonna be perfect.

As a group, I think we have a good mix of people. The only challenge I'm seeing right now is a lack of work getting done on everyones' end. Not to say that we haven't accomplished anything. If we had maybe created more structure in our pre-production meetings, it would have made it easier. They are different from my first thoughts. I've pretty much become more positive about it.
