Weekly Reflection - March 11th

Near the completion of your second show, what have you learned as a result of the process the second time around? What areas still need improvement?

Regarding critiques, what is the most beneficial thing about student and staff critiques?
Least beneficial?
And what can be done to assist us in this area as far as making the critique data more valuable to us…

Any area of concern regarding:
-Live daily jobs
-the upcoming show (#3)
-the Library video productAnything else?

So far I've learned that the process for RamTV changes from show to show because there is not always a lot of interesting things going on at Highland which could cause some problems for the show content.

The critiques for the first show were not really that beneficial. There were mainly positive comments but the ones that had something negative to say didn't provide information as to what made the show so bad.

The only problem I've actually had in this class is that I have a lot of down time and it's sort of hard to keep myself busy.

There isn't much to improve if we don't have anything exciting or entertaining around the school that we could film and talk about.
I like the critiques because it let's us know what we could improve on. I don't get upset over them, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The less beneficial thing about them were the ones just saying "that show was the best"
I have no concerns for anything really, just coming up with ideas and actually doing them asap.

After our 2nd show I can say that I've learned a lot about how the sound works when we air, and how well L truly is at telling time. I think we could maybe use some more organization because a lot of times I find myself not having anything to do.

Now that we are winding down our second show.. I feel like we procrastinated a bit. Several people didn't follow through or volunteer for things to do on the show. We need to improve on communication.
The critiques from show one weren't really critiques.. they more of "ata boys". Don't get me wrong.. I love that people loved our show.. and Micah. But they didn't give us anything to work from. I honestly don't know of what we can do to make critiquing more beneficial.. most people are just wanting to leave class when the bell rings and right something quick down on the papers.
I have a concern about show 3... I really think that when people have down time when this show is being tied up... we HAVE to get a jump start for the things we need for the next one. This deadline came up super fast because we were so psyched about the responses from show one. We also need to get started on the Library video.
I just feel like priorities are not being recognized as much as they were at the beginning.

Well, we need to be on the ball for the next show as soon as we finish with the one we were doing. I can't say we wasted time, not exactly, but it seemed like we "planned" for too long. However, I think it's only because we couldn't find anything to top our first one. It's good, but now there's pressure to better our selves, for good or worse. I can only hope that we didn't begin with a bang, our embers burning bright... only to have a little fizzle afterwards.

There's a bit of slack and nonproductiveness, I had to crack ze ol' whip. Although, I do have to say, everything has come together a lot slower than last time.

I believe our transitions could still use some work and how long things are.

I liked hearing to student and staff critiques because I want to make no room for error in the next shows and leave no room for negative comments.

I think we should make reviewing the critique sheets a team effort. I think the comments would mean more to us if we actually got to see every review.

I've learned about how important it is to import and edit your footage immediately for it to be done in time for the show or else we'll be struggling and rushing like we did for show 2. We still need a lot of work in communication and I realize now we're all going to have to do jobs that we don't like too much but we have to do it to get the show done and to make the deadline.

The most beneficial aspect to the critique sheets are being able to see how our peers felt about the show. Whether they hated it or loved it. The least would have to be when they don't really comment on it, they just circle letters because it really doesn't tell us what we need to work on to make the show even better the next time. Maybe we could present the show a little bit earlier like a few minutes earlier to give the students time to actually comment on it instead of running to class right when the bell rings.

No areas of concern really right now just to get the show done as soon as possible.

I felt like I didn't really have a part at the beginning of our 2nd shows production. I was always editing live and making it interesting to watch. But we switched jobs and I finally jumped into some things that would help the overall production. I filmed and edited the Shelby high school section, and that turned out pretty well.

I think show two has actually improved a lot more than the first one. We all have included more things that are going on around the school and still made it interesting as the 1st one was, so good job to everyone, I think we will get the same remarks as we did the first one.

As for the Library and filming the High school seniors, those are probably the last things were focusing on. I hope we are able to get them done as a group, but time is flying by fast right now.

show #2 was not near as good as sow #1, that saddens me :'(
Critiques are a necessity to our show, because we need to know what we did wrong/right and our audience (dis)liked. Some critiques I could live without tho.
Problems = slacking, procrastination, & time management. BUT, all is well and problems will be solved and = a better show.

bye bye

Procrastination was definitely a factor in the time crunch that made our show such poor quality. I think we can improve on our communication skills.

I'm not very excited to see these critique sheets for this show. I feel as if they're going to be predominantly negative.

As far as concerns, I feel as if there are authority issues. I've noticed that editors are more like "This is MY show and its going to be how I want it." but it should be brought to attention that this is a democracy, and its everyone's show.

I learned the importance of communicating. If we don't make it clear what we want, how we're doing it, or what it is, then the editor may receive a completely different product than was expected.
The group should try to work on this communication thing as well as showing more initiative.

The most beneficial part of critiques is when people leave comments that are constructive.
The least beneficial are the thoughtless straight ticket ballots. I think you know what I mean by that.
Maybe we can mention to leave comments on Live or in the show.

I have no concerns about Live. I don't really care about it that much. There's no art or interest to it.

Hopefully the next show we can work faster and collectively. That will greatly improve the show. And if we finish early and something is bad, we can have time to fix it.

I haven't thought hardly at all about the Library video, but I hope I have someone to work with because it isn't something I'm really interested in, so I'm not going to want to do it.
