Weekly Reflection - March 18th

Wow!
What an amazing week!
Tying up loose ends....
Raw footage becoming segments....
team work with such a diverse group....

Nailed the show last week
- critique sheets prove that you rocked it!

You know the drill:
- what did you learn this week?
- what changes will the group make before the next filming, segments, etc
- what went really well?
- what still needs work?
- what else?

Hugs, Ms. L

This week i learned how important audio truely is! i had difficulties with my interview of coach, and also noticed audio level change in the "talented students" segment.

the changes we'll make it work faster and more efficiently. time is of the essence!

our entire show went really well, even though we had our difficulties and struggles, we executed our show to perfection.

apparently our editing, artsy camera angles, and bland openings need work, despite everyone loved them!!!

what else? our class is a blast! and we get work done will having fun :) this is the best class i've encountered during my days at highland. peace out home dawgs.

The last 2 weeks have been really similar for me. I've been doing live, but other than that I haven't had much going on. I've helped filmed 1 segment and we didn't even get to use that footage. Maybe I should try my hand at editing because that seems to take up the most time.

I just hope that our show can live up the the expecations set by the first one.

We've proved that we can make a good show that a great majority of the school can enjoy; the wee portion of nay-sayers however will be more difficult.

Even if it went well, it was a learning experience. Hopefully, this show will "flow" better than the last one.

Anything else we need to work on has been covered in the previous blog.

This week...I have learned how much down time we actually have. Last time I edited the show and anchored and edited Live on some days.. This time I haven't done near as much. But I feel like several people haven't done a lot either. I can really tell that senioritis is kicking in hard as we progress with this next show. Things are being pushed back day after day.. like the donuts and the lead-ins. I've gone into more detail on the other post..
I do want to say that we did an awesome job working together for the first show and we took the critiques with a grain of salt and didn't let the negative ones get to us too badly.

ummm..... other than this.. I'm having a really good time in this class.. deadlines are real and we all work together to meet them.

This week learned how to edit video which was needed a long time ago. I didnt really struggle with it as much as I thought I would.

I think before our next show we'll have to import things as soon as we get them and plan things out a little better

I think everything went really well and I am very proud of all of my classmates.

Our timing and placement of things are 2 things I see that could use work.

I really hope our shows continue to go very well and i look forward to seeing what happens.

One more thing that I have thought about.. in yearbook last semester we started this new thing called "beats" where each student were assigned to two or three teachers to check with each week to see if they were doing anything picture worthy or video worthy. We were never at a loss of pictures or something to cover. I think we could try this in RamTV to find out more about what's going on around Highland than the few teachers who talk to Ms. L.... just a suggestion.

I agree with maddie i did learn how much down time we have between trying to edit the last little bit of sections to put into the show, and how we are pushing things back an losing footage. We need to get things imported and edited quicker so that we're not rushing the last few days to get everything edited and imported into the show. I also learned that right after you film whatever you need to film make sure the tape is good and doesnt mess up and reshoot, if possible. If not than we need to check the tape beforehand. We still need to work on timing and planning on when certain things are going to get filmed and import that day when its filmed if we can. I can't think of anything else right now.

This week I learned how to use iMovie better because I absolutely hate editing. I already knew how to edit for live and stuff, but I didn't really have to go much into editing an actual segment. Editing segments actually involve looking through all the footage to find which footage is good and adding music and transitions to make the segment smooth. Editing Live Daily is just a simple drag and drop because we normally edit in one take. I can't really think of anything that the group needs to change at the top of my head. Besides getting things done on time.

I learned that it does take a lot of team work. You can't try to do everything on your own. Ask people to help you get the job done, if its not exactly what you wanted deal with it, or fix, you wont hurt their feelings if you make it better I'm sure. :) anyways I'm enjoying this class...but umm weather..ugh I almost feel like its pointless since everyone knows about today and what it feels like outside..maybe if we talked about the day of and the next day?

Audio is truly important. I learned how the segments should correlate with sounds between each other. Communication definitely needs work. I feel like some of us are starting to step on others toes, and overbear and the others are not having it. I think if we're honest and straight forward with each other rather than being quiet and talking about it to other people, we could get a lot more done.

But our first show was great and everyone did a really great job on their segments.

These last few weeks have been...I guess the word for it would be normal. Not much has changed for me. I think that for the next show the group will make would be to make sure we get things a little bit more organized. It’s like we have good ideas it’s just hard for us to get them to come together when we start filming. I don’t think anything went really well for this show everything seems kind of mediocre. I think that the only work we really need is a little more communication between the class.

I learned the importance of communicating. If we don't make it clear what we want, how we're doing it, or what it is, then the editor may receive a completely different product than was expected.
The group should try to work on this communication thing as well as showing more initiative. We also should procrastinate less.
I really like the parts I did. That sounds bad; I don't care. I liked the closing (Micah and Megan are hilarious.) I really enjoyed how the lead-ins and the closing tied together. That's how it's supposed to be.
Interviews need work sound-wise. It's understandable that our first show has bad sound, but the second show should have been an obvious improvement and it really just got worse.
