Weekly Reflection - February 19th

Please take a moment to think about the live broadcasts that have occurred thus far.

What challenges do we have to overcome?

What is your job this week?

What is the most difficult thing about this job as well as the easiest/best thing?

less than three,
L

Live thoughts from L

Pat and O have done a spiffy job as anchors and have really raised the bar.

Kudos to Magena Mo & CJ who have communicated wonderfully and helped make the transitions seamless.

Paiger has done an amazing job with the “oh so intimidating sound board”

Bry rocked the teleprompter and has been hustling all week.

Is anyone aware of a problem job?

What should I do if I don’t know what to do?

Something to ponder – jobs will change next week in the studio and the following week in the control room…..Oh and one more thing – you will train your replacement. =]

Thumbs up to everyone for a great first Ram Daily Live!

The only challenges that I can think of, is that Olivia and Pat need to look at the cameras more than the teleprompter, but they will be changing out this week anyways, aside from that I think we did great. A little issue with Pats camera not being lined up, but that was quickly fixed.

My job this week is working the sound board, which so far, I love doing. Its no where near as hard as I thought it would be, and I want to keep working that throughout the semester.

I think the most difficult job would be anchor, because the entire school is watching you, and you have to be totally professional, you can't stutter, and you have to make it look like you're watching the camera.

Personally, I can't wait to do more live broadcasts, I think we've done a great job up to this point, and even though we set the standards high for ourself, I think we can do even better.

Our challengens of course are of us being the "new kids" and learning the ropes, but I feel like we are doing just fine.

My job this week was to work the teleprompter. I Basically type up and organize the announcement to be dictated by the anchors on Live Daily.

Let me start off by saying this job was not easy as I thought it would be. It is a lot of responsibility because you pretty much hold ALL the info of the show, and the flow of the show. You are responsible for what is being said and making sure that it is professional and accurate at the same time. Its more than just pressing a button and changing the colors to red and blue for the anchorss.

It was really hard for me this week because there was a butt load of announcements, and I guess its just like that some times, but Im glad I got to do this job that I really didn't even think about, and I am excited to see what job I get to do next!

Well thanks for including my name on the kudos list, L! My job this week was "production assistant." I love this job for my "first week" in the studio because, more than anything else, I'm observing others do their jobs, especially those in the studio. The next job I want to take on might be camera "man" or telepromter person. A challenge to overcome... Not really seeing any yet. The first two shows speak for themselves and say that we work great together. Let's hope that same success carries over next week when no one is in the same area again.
Now let me reflect on the first show. I was sooooooo impressed. I was even happier of what the result was. We made an amazing, almost impossible, leap from our run throughs to the live. I was so glad that my beautiful face was given the opportunity to be on the first show of the semester, and of course that made the show even better ;).
The show that we are preparing is getting to be frustrating! The other day I was trying to get things imported and maybe edit a little too but there wasn't a computer available!! uuurrrrgggg!! We still need pictures of the snow so if you're reading this and you have the recent blizzards on tape give them to me!! I'll be helping Keith edit and I hope that's going to prepare me to take the job full on at a future date.

Paiger – I’m glad that you enjoy your job however; unfortunately, you will not have the same job all semester. What is your plan to ease yourself into the job of anchor, so that you are comfortable and feel that you well represent the show?

Bry – You beasted both jobs this week! Well done!

Luis – Why are you frustrated regarding importing? What would help? Suggestions are always appreciated!

Overall I think our first live show went well. The show went better than I thought it would and I hope that all of our shows will be just as good and maybe even better than this first show.

The only thing that I would have to say that we need to improve on is having better communication skills, and also we need to figure out a way to make the TelePrompTer more visible and easier for the anchors to just glance at so they can keep eye contact with the camera. I think Olivia and Pat did a great job at this because being an anchor is really a hard job, and I think this will be the hardest job for me. I don't like being in front of the camera at all but I guess that is something that I just need to get used to. I applaud Olivia and Patrick for being the firsts to do the live broadcast.

My job this week was the scrolling announcements. This job was really easy for me. All I did was make sure the DVD was re-winded back at the right place so that when I hit play it would come up on the TV at the right place. I also made sure that the announcements listed the time for the live broadcast show. This job really wasn't my favorite because I feel that I wasn't as involved with the show as I wanted to be. I guess you could say that I like having a challenge and this really wasn't a challenge for me.

I would have to say that in all my years of watching Ram TV or even just regular TV, I never knew that this much work went into a show, and our show wasn't even long at all. I feel that people should really appreciate all the time and effort that people put into a show and really take it seriously.

This week I learned that every job is important, no matter how big or little the task; it is very important to take each job seriously because if one person messes up it will effect everyone so we all need to continue working together so we will never have a "COME TO JESUS MEETING" lol :)

Have we already gotten our new jobs? I feel like I possibly missed that... if we didn't then I am down for anything.

My job this week was video switcher and had we not had that DVD I feel that I would have done miserably at it. I love that job now and I would be more than happy to have that be my job the rest of the semester after we have all tried each job. I definitely learned this week that COMMUNICATION is key... no doubt. Had it not been for my sweetheart I would have been so lost as to who should have been on the tele. The DVD helps so much. To all the no0b video switchers… you will soon understand why communication and that DVD are crucial to this job. I love the whole “Oh and one more thing – you will train your replacement. =]” you sneaky sneak.

I think we did amazing for our first week. I actually had a nightmare Sunday night about our first show because I was so nervous something would go wrong and make us look bad right out of the gate. We really showed the school that we are not any other semester of Ram TV, instead we showed them that we are different and intend on proving ourselves.

We all work together really well because we are smart enough to learn from others mistakes, and I am really thankful for that. I also appreciate how everyone had picked up the pace as far as taking responsibility for their jobs and actions, myself included. It really helps things run smoother. We had a “day” Friday which I felt peoples bad moods were unnecessary, we all need to understand that in that class we are a family and we are all here for each other. Everyone has bad days and that is understandable. I had one last Thursday… but I didn’t bring that into the classroom, so we need to work on that. In my opinion anyways.

I look forward to next week and learning my new job and getting the show finished and making our debut Friday.

P.S. I love you Ram TVlagins. We all need to just relax, everything will get done.

I think we overcame the slander and bad reputation of RamTv and really stepped up and did what we were capable of, We all worked very well as a team and this is going to be a stressful 4th period but a good one we can do pretty much whatever we want because we are so capable of it.

Anchor was a very hard and heart racing job, I was so nervous but after i took a deep breath everything was okay. I think patrick and I did pretty well for it to be our first time live on camera.

The most difficult thing is that we get critized for absouletly everything, so the smallest mistake will be critized by everyone watching it. but overall this was a fun job.

i think what we as a class need to overcome is probably communication, of course there is little things that each person has to do for there own job, but i think as a class we need to learn to communicate better taht would make everybodies jobs easier and make production even better. i dont no my new job

I think we did set the bar quite high the first week of Live Broadcasting. I was absent the 2nd day so I can't speak about that personally but I did hear there were a few minor issues. Aside from that, I'm excited to get a new job. Camera 4 isn't really much of a challenge so long as you correctly line up the 2nd anchor. (Remember the thirds rule!) For the big show, everything is due Wednesday which I'm sure we all know. There is still a lot to be done with that and I think we really need to get it in gear on Monday. I know everyone wants to relax and spread things out but I don't like worrying about getting things done at the last moment. The way I look at it, it's better to get it done at the beginning and then you have a whole bunch of chill time at once! Instead of it being all spread out.

We definetly did an awesome job for our first two live daily's (dailies, dailees... idk/idc)!

Being anchor is pretty simple: read the telepromtpter and smile like you really ARE in a good mood. Just make sure that you don't look like you're paranoid, expecting to see an axe murderer jump out from a corner. ;)

This week was great I felt like I really got the "feel" of RAM TV. I enjoyed my job this week and look foward to my next job. I don't feel as safe in this class as I did in graphics because I don't have some of the experience that others in the class have with things like editing, cameras, etc. I'm not jumping right in a doing a lot of things that I could do because I'm scared of that it will not be as good as the class expects RAM TV products to be. Thats one thing I will have to over come but other than that the week went real good. The First live show was really good, and hopefully all the rest will be as good.

During this week of RamTV I got to work in the control room and basically what I was supposed to do was to supervise and do whatever needed to be done in there. I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do because they didn't seem to need my help so I kind of just stood around for those 2 days. I didn't like this job because I wasn't doing anything and maybe I just didn't know what to do, but I hope next week I will be able to feel like I contributed to the live daily brodcast.

I also am very proud of everyone because everybody in the Ram TV class seems to work very well together. I hope we can come up with some pretty spiffy ideas for our next show too!
